The Nursery is divided into 4 zones:

Play and Learn Themed learning activities linked to Birth to Three Matters and the Foundation Curriculum. Imaginative role play area Painting Craft activities Circle time space for discussion, sharing and show & tell
Activity Room - for Free Play Wide choice of toys, games and creative activities Opportunities for independent or group free play Selection of musical intruments Free choice of creative materials
Quiet Room Quiet relaxation and rest area Range of story and singing audio tapes Wide selection of picture books including fiction, non fiction, poetry and rhymes
Outside Space Opportunities to develop knowledge and understanding of the world and strengthen physical skills. Ride on toys, outdoor play equipment, gardening equipment

Zig Zags provides a range of play and learn activities that are linked to the 6 areas of learning in the Foundation Curriculum. Stories, pictures and toys are used to inspire and motivate children.

All activities are based on relevant practical experiences and include daily opportunities to develop a wide range of language and maths skills.

Creativity is at the heart of all learning in the nursery with opportunities for art, role play, music and movement.

Positive attitudes to personal well being are encouraged through physical activities and healthy eating.

Themes are planned to introduce children to the wider world, past times and the culture that they live in.

The Nursery is jointly owned by Sandra Barnett and Sue Kemp.

Sandra - Trained as an Early Years Teacher and has been a Primary School headteacher for many years. Her experience includes working with parents, preschools and afterschool clubs. Sandra believes that creativity is a fundamental part of every child's development.

Sue - Sue is a very experienced Primary School Teacher. She is skilled at developing the potential of each child through her own interest in painting, drawing and craft work.
